On our way to bilingualism
Some months ago we had he opportunity to become part of the program learning more together run by the Secretary of Education of Cundinamarca, which is aimed at providing tools to teachers and schools in our department in order to strenghten the english teaching process and at the same time our students skills.

The program proposes some activities to be carried out at the different schools belonging to it, from which we can highlight the Song Festival and the Spelling Bee Contest. These two activities are programmed at an institutional, regional and department level, and are held along the school year.
​
Last Friday, August the 2nd we had the opportunity to carry out the institutional stage of these contests, in order to choose the students who will represent our school in the regional and perhaps department stages, that will take place within the next months.
​
During the institutional stage we had the opportunity to enjoy with the talent of students from different headquarters like Pastor Ospina, El Salitre and El Carmen. As a result of their presentations, and thanks to the judgement of some of our teachers, the students who will represent our school are:

It is really important for our school to keep working on the strengthening of the foreign language skills of our students, and we have great expectations towards continuing being part of this program. We hope to count permanently with the support of all the school community, if we work all together we can get better results.

VIVIENDO EL INGLÉS FUERA DEL AULA
El pasado 05 de Noviembre de 2019, 27 estudiantes de la sede el Salitre de la Institución educativa rural departamental el Carmen junto con las profesoras Ruby L. Pérez G. Y María Fernanda del área de ingles hicieron un reconocimiento al centro histórico de la ciudad de Bogotá en ingles aprovechando la guianza ofertada en este idioma de los sitios visitados.
Los asistentes a la salida pedagógica ingresaron el Museo de la Policía Nacional y el Museo de Bogotá. Además identificaron algunos sitios emblemáticos de la Candelaria como: la Plaza Simón Bolívar y edificaciones alrededor , el teatro Colon, la Iglesia de la Candelaria, el museo de la moneda, la biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, El chorro de Quevedo entre otros. Todos ellos cargados de historias que fueron compartidas por los guías de los museos visitados y del Instituto Distrital de Turismo (IDT) acompañantes.
Esta fue la primera salida pedagógica que se realiza en la institución a fin de generar experiencias significativas en los estudiantes con el idioma fuera del aula a fin de empezar a fortalecer el Proyecto de Bilingüismo creado este año en la institución y fomentar en los estudiantes mayor interés y conciencia de la importancia de aprender inglés como segunda lengua para acceder al conocimiento local y global.
Los estudiantes vivieron una experiencia única donde la información recibida en ingles despertó su sentido de escucha atenta, observación y curiosidad. Es por ello, que esperamos poder seguir proyectando este tipo de actividades en la institución.

LIVING ENGLISH OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
The last November 5th , 2019, 27 students from Salitre headquarters of the El Carmen rural departamental Educative institution together with the teachers Ruby L. Pérez G. And Maria Fernanda León from the English area made a recognition to Bogota´s historic centre in english Language taking advantage the guidance offered by the visited places.
The assistants to the educational outling went in to National Police Museum and Bogotá`s Museum. Besides they identified some emblematic places at La Candelaria such as : Simón Bolivar Square and building around; Colon Theatre, La Candelaria Church, Coin´s house, Luis Angel Arango´s library, Quevedo´s fountain, among others. All the places loaded with stories which were shared by the museum´s and IDT (turism distrital institute) guides.
This was the first educational outling done in the institution to get meaningful experiences in students with english out of the classroom in order to begin to strengthen the Bilingualism project created this year at the highschool and encourage students more interest and awareness about the importance of learn english as a second language to access local an global kowledge.
The students lived a unique experience where the information received in english aroused their sense of attentive listening , observation and curiosity. That is why we hope to continue projecting this type of activities in the institution.

Curiosidades e información en las redes sociales del colegio
La I.E.D. El Carmen se da a conocer a la región promoviendo información en los medios de comunicación.
Los canales de comunicación institucionales cada día se fortalecen con el constante avance y empoderamiento de las redes sociales favoreciendo a la comunidad carmelista acceder a información del canal de YouTube, el Informativo Carmelista, la página web y el perfil de Facebook .

Así mismo, el colegio cuenta con la emisora R.V.I El Carmen la cual nace en el 2015, se constituye como un portal al mundo de información y aprendizaje. Todo ello se ha logrado gracias al trabajo del rector de la institución, docentes y estudiantes para la creación del proyecto.

En 2018 se crea la página de Facebook la cual transmite actividades pedagógicas en donde los padres de familia pueden saber que los hijos aportan en los diferentes aspectos en el colegio, trabajos realizados por el rector, docentes y estudiantes.
En el informativo carmelista se encuentra la versión impresa y está disponible de manera virtual a partir del año 2018 en la plataforma virtual www.wixsite.com, fue implementada para ampliar la información del informativo y poder actualizar la información de los hechos más resientes.

De esta manera se hace extensiva la información de la institución a cada uno de los rincones del municipio de Guasca y a otras partes del mundo, ya que gracias a los contadores de visitas se puede ver desde qué lugar del planeta se conectan para conocer de esta institución ubicada en el sector rural del municipio de Guasca.
